TENDER NOTICE

Terms of reference for a consultancy to produce simplified booklets on rights and obligations of WICBTs for empowering women in informal cross border trade (EWICBT) project in Rwanda.

  Pro-Femmes/ Twese Hamwe (PFTH) is an Umbrella of Rwandan Civil Society Organizations aiming at advancement of women status, peace and development. It was established in October 1992, and currently represents 53 member organizations within the country.  The mission of Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe is to eradicate all forms of discrimination towards women, to promote their socio-economic political and legal status, and to enhance the institutional and organizational capacities of its   member organizations through the promotion of sustainable human development approach based on gender equality and a culture of peace, justice and human rights.

PFTH with funding by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is implementing the Empowering Women in Informal Cross-Border Trade in The Great Lakes Region (EWICBT) project. The project activities will be implemented in Rubavu and Rusizi in Rwanda. It aims at contributing to social economic empowerment of women in cross border trade between DRC and Rwanda. This will be achieved through improving their business environment and increasing their income and their social economic welfare. To accomplish this, the project is built on improving the legal and policy framework for WICBT, providing access to legal aid services to WICBT, increasing WICBT’s access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and strengthens the entrepreneurial and financial capacity of WICBT.

The project would not achieve its results if women in informal cross border trade (WICBT) experience much trade challenges including but not limited to lack of skills and knowledge on their rights and obligations.

The purpose of this tender is to recruit a qualified consultancy firm from Rwanda to develop a booklet that will be used to train Women Informal Cross Border Traders in Rwandan/ Rubavu and Rusizi) on their rights and obligations. Moreover the consultant will conduct a Training of Trainers (ToT) for Proximity Advisors and Financial Specialist.

Reference to the above, we are therefore inviting all qualified and interested consultants to provide proposals at PRO- FEMMES/ TWESE HAMWE not later than 28/06/2021 at 10:00 am. Duly submitted bids will be publicly opened at 10:30 am on the same date. Tender documents may be obtained in hard copy at Pro-Femmes / Twese Hamwe offices located at Gahanga next to Gahanga Sector office, Kicukiro district in working days from 15/06/2021 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time, or in soft upon request and presentation of a payment proof of a non-refundable fee of ten thousand Rwandan francs (10,000Frw) to the account No: 1002190104949201 of PRO-FEMMES / TWESE HAMWE Opened in the ACCESS Bank.  The soft copy is requested on  info@profemmes.org  with a copy to n.niyonsenga@profemmes.org.
