The FAO Representation in Kigali is hiring a Senior Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for FAO staff, the Head of Office, and high-ranking visitors. This is a frontline role — you’ll often be the first point of contact for guests arriving in Rwanda, and a trusted presence for the entire country office.

- •Drive the FAO Representative, senior officials, and visitors safely and punctually across Kigali and beyond
- •Meet incoming personnel at the airport and assist with immigration, customs, hotel check-in, and local formalities
- •Maintain assigned vehicle(s) in excellent condition — daily checks of oil, water, battery, and tyres; arrange repairs as needed
- •Log all official trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle-related expenditures accurately
- •Collect and deliver mail, documents, and pouches to and from government agencies, UN offices, and project sites
- •Handle all required formalities in the event of a road accident, following FAO and local regulations
- •Support the office with light clerical duties such as answering calls, photocopying, and keeping records
- •Brief and train the junior driver on all duties and responsibilities
Minimum requirements
- →Secondary school education
- →Valid driver’s licence
- →4 years of professional driving experience with a clean, safe record
- →Working proficiency in English (level C)
- →Rwandan national or valid work permit holder
- →Must reside within commuting distance of Kigali
Nice to have
- →Knowledge of FAO’s Corporate Environmental Responsibility principles
- →Intermediate proficiency in a second FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish)
What we’re looking for
- →Strong knowledge of local driving rules, regulations, and road conditions
- →Ability to perform minor vehicle repairs and identify maintenance needs proactively
- →High degree of punctuality, reliability, and discretion
- →Willingness to work extended hours when required
