πŸ’‘ Job Brief: Operational Strategy and Profitability

The General Manager is the ultimate authority on site, responsible for the safe and profitable execution of all underground mining activities. This role involves setting the strategic direction, maintaining rigorous cost control, maximizing production throughput, and providing robust leadership across all functional areas, including SHEC (Safety, Health, Environment, and Community), technical services, finance, and human resources.

βœ… Key Responsibilities & Areas of Executive Oversight

1. Leadership and Operational Strategy

  • Executive Planning: Develop, implement, and lead the site’s strategic and long-term operational plans, ensuring strict alignment with Trinity Metals’ corporate objectives.

  • Culture and Performance: Inspire and mentor a large, multidisciplinary workforce to achieve ambitious production, cost, and zero-harm safety targets. Drive a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

2. Safety, Health, Environment, and Community (SHEC)

  • Safety Mandate: Champion an uncompromising zero-harm safety culture across the entire operation, ensuring full compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO) and Rwandan statutory regulations.

  • Stakeholder Management: Cultivate strong, sustainable relationships with host communities and local government stakeholders, ensuring effective implementation of the Company’s CSR Strategy and local content development.

3. Integrated Mining Value Chain Management

  • Production Oversight: Strategically direct all underground mining activities, including mine planning, geology, blasting, load and haul, and grade control, to ensure optimal mineral extraction.

  • Processing & Metallurgy: Oversee processing plant performance to maximize ore recovery, throughput, and product quality targets.

  • Asset Management: Dictate the site’s maintenance strategies (for both fixed and mobile plant) to maximize asset reliability and manage associated budgets efficiently.

4. Finance, Governance, and Human Capital

  • Financial Control: Develop, manage, and enforce the annual site budget, maintaining stringent cost control frameworks and ensuring accurate financial and production reporting.

  • Technical Services: Approve mine designs, production schedules, and lead technical teams (Survey, Geotechnical) to drive innovation and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Human Resources: Oversee workforce planning, performance management, and training programs to build long-term capability and maintain positive employee relations and engagement.


🎯 Required Qualifications and Executive Profile

1. Education and Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of senior management experience in a large-scale operational environment, ideally within mining, heavy industry, or large-scale manufacturing/energy.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management, or a directly related field. An MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is a significant asset.

2. Leadership and Technical Skills

  • Operational Scale: Demonstrated success in leading and coordinating complex operations, preferably involving a workforce of 1,000+ employees, maintaining superior productivity and safety standards.

  • Strategic Acumen: Exceptional capability to balance high-level strategic direction with effective day-to-day operational oversight, process optimization, and cost reduction.

  • Compliance and Integrity: Deep commitment to responsible, sustainable business practices and strict compliance with local laws and international governance requirements.

  • Decision Making: A resilient, adaptable, and decisive leader with exceptional communication skills for internal and external stakeholder management.

  • Innovation: Proven track record of successfully leading modernization or automation initiatives in industrial settings.
