Kigali, Rwanda โ€“ An inter-country bus belonging to Trinity Express was involved in a serious road accident in southwestern Uganda on the morning of Monday, December 15, 2025, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including two Rwandan drivers.

The accident occurred in the early hours, around 2:30 AM (EAT), on the busy Kabaleโ€“Mbarara highway, specifically within the Rukiga District of Uganda. The bus was operating the standard long-haul route, traveling from Kampala, Uganda, and heading towards the Rwandan capital, Kigali.

Victims Identified

According to reports from local authorities in Uganda, three people lost their lives in the crash. Among the deceased were two Rwandan nationals who served as drivers for the bus: Habiyaremye Ananias and Habineza Alfred.

The incident caused an immediate halt to travel plans for the remaining passengers, while the injured were quickly transported to Kabale Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Preliminary Cause of the Crash

ASP Elly Maate, the Police Spokesperson for the Rugezi area, confirmed the fatality count and the circumstances of the crash to media outlets. While the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, preliminary findings suggest that the bus veered off the road and plunged into a ditch or deep pit.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to determine what led to the vehicle losing control on the busy route connecting the East African capitals.

The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the risks associated with long-distance bus travel and the need for vigilance regarding road safety across the region.
