As a pivotal member of the Engineering team, the Boilermaker is primarily responsible for the construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of critical steel structures, heavy mining equipment, and robust piping systems. βœ… Core Responsibilities of a Mining Boilermaker

This role requires dedication to precision, compliance, and efficiency across the following areas:

  • Fabrication and Construction: Execute precise cutting, shaping, and assembly of complex metal components, including structural supports, frames, chutes, and pipelines, strictly adhering to engineering specifications and blueprints.

  • Heavy Equipment Maintenance: Construct, inspect, and perform specialized welding repairs on large industrial equipment, such as storage tanks, pressure vessels, and boilers critical to our tin mining operations.

  • Preventive and Corrective Repairs: Conduct routine integrity checks on existing steel infrastructure. Promptly repair and reinforce worn or damaged metal parts on conveyors and other mechanical systems using advanced welding methods (MIG, TIG, Arc welding).

  • Safety and Standards Adherence: Ensure all welding and fabrication procedures meet strict company safety protocols, industry standards, and Rwandan environmental regulations. Actively participate in safety training and the mandated use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Workplace Management: Maintain and calibrate all welding tools and machinery. Ensure the workshop is organized, clean, and compliant with hazard-free standards.

  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with engineers and maintenance teams to minimize operational downtime. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members and apprentices.

  • Emergency Response: Be available for call-out duties to manage urgent, critical repairs that impact the continuity of the mining process.


🎯 Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a candidate with proven expertise in heavy industrial environments.

1. Education and Certification

  • A minimum of a Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Certificate Level III in Welding Technology, Boilermaking, or a closely related technical field.

  • Certification in advanced welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and Arc welding) is highly preferred.

  • Additional safety certifications relevant to mining operations are a significant advantage.

2. Experience and Technical Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience as a certified Boilermaker or Industrial Welder.

  • Experience in mining or heavy industrial environments is a crucial asset.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints.

  • Expert knowledge of metalworking tools, machinery, and applicable welding safety standards.
