Data Analytics Engineer (Consultant) – IremboAI | Kigali, Rwanda or Remote (10-Month Contract)

We are hiring a Data Analytics Engineer (Consultant) to join the IremboAI initiative for a 10-month engagement. This role is central to building the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) system that measures the impact of our AI-powered Multilingual Chatbot and Voice Assistant, tools designed to improve accessibility for underserved Rwandans.

About the Opportunity

As the Data Analytics Engineer, you will transform raw AI-generated data—chatbot logs, voice assistant interactions, and service application events—into meaningful insights. You will build analytical models, automated dashboards, and performance monitoring tools to measure inclusivity, efficiency, and user experience across IremboAI.

This role blends data engineering, M&E analytics, and AI evaluation—perfect for someone passionate about social impact, digital transformation, and innovation for low-resource languages like Kinyarwanda.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Impact Reporting

• Create and maintain automated dashboards to track KPIs such as Inclusivity, Adoption, and Efficiency.

• Conduct in-depth analytics to determine whether voice and chatbot tools reduce barriers for rural users, low-literacy groups, and people with disabilities.

• Provide clear insights that guide product decisions and measure social impact.

2. Analytics Engineering & Data Pipelines

• Build production-ready data models (SQL/dbt) that transform raw logs into structured datasets.

• Manage data pipelines pulling information from AI inference logs and operational databases.

• Implement automated data quality checks to ensure accurate reporting and a reliable “single source of truth.”

3. AI Performance Monitoring

• Analyze voice and chatbot interactions to identify friction points, user drop-offs, and misinterpretation issues—especially in Kinyarwanda.

• Support the product team in reducing citizen application errors by 40% through data-driven insights.

4. Data Privacy & Governance

• Remove personal identifiable information (PII) and enforce strict compliance with Rwanda’s data protection regulations.

• Ensure all analytics datasets meet security and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years in Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, or Business Intelligence.

• Advanced SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python.

• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Metabase, or Superset.

• Hands-on experience with dbt for data transformation.

• Ability to translate complex business questions into quantifiable metrics.

Preferred Skills

• Experience developing or implementing M&E frameworks for social impact programs.

• Kinyarwanda language skills to understand voice/chatbot interaction patterns.

• Familiarity with NLP/AI evaluation metrics such as WER, precision/recall, and intent accuracy.

• Understanding of on-premise or hybrid data infrastructure.
