πŸ’‘ Job Brief: Supporting Continuous Mining Operations

The Mining Electrician will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of all power distribution systems and components within the mine site. This role involves expert troubleshooting, installation, and preventative maintenance on Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) networks, including complex control systems, motor components, and essential safety infrastructure. Success in this role directly supports the safety and continuous operation of our tin mining activities in Rulindo, Rwanda.

βš™οΈ Core Electrical Responsibilities

The successful candidate will manage critical tasks across the site:

  • Installation & Commissioning: Install, connect, and commission new electrical control systems, power distribution components, and specialized lighting systems in both underground shafts and surface processing areas.

  • System Maintenance: Conduct proactive maintenance, service, and repairs on essential electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and industrial motors, ensuring peak performance.

  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and testing equipment to rapidly identify and resolve electrical faults, system failures, and power anomalies to minimize mining downtime.

  • Safety System Management: Install and rigorously maintain critical safety infrastructure, such as emergency power shutoffs, communication networks, and fire alarm systems, strictly adhering to electrical safety codes.

  • Compliance and Reporting: Guarantee all work complies with Rwandan industry regulations, company safety protocols, and site-specific requirements. Meticulously document all maintenance records, test results, and repairs.

  • Emergency Response: Be prepared for on-call duty to address urgent electrical emergencies, restoring power and system functionality swiftly and safely.


πŸ“‹ Required Profile & Expertise

1. Education and Certification

  • A minimum of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Certificate III in Electrical Technology or an equivalent qualification.

  • Certification demonstrating competence in working with High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems is strongly preferred.

  • Additional certifications focused on mining safety standards are highly advantageous.

2. Experience and Technical Skills

  • At least 2 years of professional experience as an Electrician.

  • Direct experience with underground electrical systems and in a heavy mining or industrial setting is a significant plus.

  • Proven hands-on experience working with high-voltage distribution, large electric motors, and automated control circuits and panels.

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex electrical schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints.

  • Deep understanding of electrical safety protocols in hazardous and confined working environments.

3. Personal Attributes and Physical Requirements

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with the capacity to make sound, swift decisions under pressure.
