Job Overview

Kvinna till Kvinna is hiring a Programme Officer in Rwanda to support women’s rights organisations and strengthen civil society. This role focuses on women’s economic empowerment, gender equality, and social inclusion (GESI), especially in the agrifood sector.

Key Responsibilities

As a Programme Officer, you will:

  • Manage partnerships with local organisations working on women’s economic empowerment and GESI
  • Act as the main contact person for partner organisations
  • Oversee programme implementation, ensuring alignment with organisational strategies
  • Handle contracts, budgets, reports, and monitoring plans
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress and document results
  • Lead capacity-building initiatives and training sessions
  • Support donor reporting and programme evaluation
  • Identify funding opportunities for partners
  • Coordinate networking events and stakeholder engagements
  • Represent the organisation in meetings with government, donors, and NGOs
  • Contribute to research, advocacy, and policy analysis
  • Lead monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this Programme Officer job in Rwanda, you should have:

  • A degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Business, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in programme management or development work
  • Experience working with civil society organisations
  • Strong knowledge of gender equality, women’s rights, and social inclusion in Rwanda
  • Experience in monitoring & evaluation (M&E) and reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French is an advantage)

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in research, advocacy, or policy engagement
  • Knowledge of intersectionality and inclusion frameworks
  • Understanding of safeguarding and gender-based violence risk mitigation
  • Ability to design and deliver training on GESI and inclusion
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills

Job Details & Benefits

  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Wellness time and allowance provided
  • Contract based in Rwanda (local contract)
  • Must have legal right to work in Rwanda
  • Start Date: 1 May 2026 (or as agreed)
  • Contract Duration: Until end of 2026 (possible extension)
