Public Health Administrative Specialist / Senior Professional Advisor – U.S. Embassy Kigali
The Embassy of the United States of America in Kigali is seeking a qualified Public Health Administrative Specialist to serve as a senior advisor (“FDA Advisor”) within the Rwanda Office of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This critical position supports high-level policy analysis and provides strategic guidance on African Union (AU) public health policies affecting FDA-regulated products including drugs, biologics, medical devices, food safety, tobacco, and veterinary medicine.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyze AU policy developments and provide expert advisory input to senior FDA officials.
- Support operationalization of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) and ongoing coordination post-launch.
- Develop strategies and guidelines to prevent public health risks linked to FDA-regulated products.
- Promote U.S.–AU cooperation on public health priorities affecting both regions.
- Monitor AU legislation and debates that may affect FDA regulatory interests.
- Maintain a wide network of senior-level AU institutional contacts to gather early policy intelligence.
- Provide regular strategic reports, assessments, and recommendations to FDA leadership.
