Programme Assistant (Operations)
G-5 · Ref: 2600727
The Programme Assistant (Operations) coordinates complex programme support processes — from budget monitoring and financial reporting to managing Letters of Agreement and administrative actions across the office’s full work programme. You’ll be a trusted advisor to managers and a hub for operational consistency.
What you’ll do
- •Monitor Regular Programme and project budgets; flag issues and take corrective action in coordination with budget holders
- •Support preparation of Periodic Budgetary Reports, the biennial Programme of Work and Budget, and related work plans
- •Prepare project budget revisions and manage Letters of Agreement from initiation through to closure
- •Review data quality, maintain office records, compile financial data, and generate management reports
- •Coordinate administrative and financial actions covering staff management, travel, payments, and procurement
Minimum requirements
- →Secondary school education
- →4 years of programme/project support experience
- →Working proficiency in English (level C)
- →Good knowledge of MS Office and office technology
Nice to have: Intermediate knowledge of a second FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish). Background in agriculture or agricultural economics is an asset.
Senior Driver
G-3 · Ref: 2600730
The Senior Driver provides safe, reliable transportation for FAO staff, the Head of Office, and high-ranking visitors. This is a frontline role — you’ll often be the first point of contact for guests arriving in Rwanda, and a trusted presence for the entire country office.
What you’ll do
- •Drive the FAO Representative, senior officials, and visitors safely and punctually across Kigali and beyond
- •Meet incoming personnel at the airport and assist with immigration, customs, hotel check-in, and local formalities
- •Maintain assigned vehicles in excellent condition — daily checks of oil, water, battery, and tyres; arrange repairs as needed
- •Log all official trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle-related expenditures accurately
- •Brief and train the junior driver; support the office with light clerical duties as required
Minimum requirements
- →Secondary school education
- →Valid driver’s licence + 4 years of professional driving
- →Working proficiency in English (level C)
- →Must reside within commuting distance of Kigali
Nice to have: Intermediate proficiency in a second FAO official language. Knowledge of FAO’s Corporate Environmental Responsibility principles.
Office Assistant
G-5 · Ref: 2600738
The Office Assistant is the organisational backbone of the country office — coordinating the full range of office support and administrative tasks, keeping information flowing, people connected, and operations running smoothly. This is a lead support role with real responsibility for the quality and efficiency of the office.
What you’ll do
- •Manage the supervisor’s calendar, screen appointments, receive visitors, and handle sensitive or confidential correspondence with discretion
- •Coordinate office support for meetings, trainings, seminars, and events — including preparing minutes and monitoring follow-up actions
- •Review, record, and process incoming mail; draft responses; proofread outgoing documents for format, grammar, and style
- •Handle administrative duties including contract extensions, leave and attendance recording, and budget preparation and follow-up
- •Coordinate work of other office support staff, train new colleagues, and maintain efficient filing and reference systems
Minimum requirements
- →Secondary school education
- →4 years of office/management support experience
- →Working proficiency in English (level C)
- →Very good knowledge of MS Office and office technology
Nice to have: Intermediate proficiency in French (level B). Working knowledge of Kinyarwanda (level C).
